The perfect combination of Elegance and Affordability!

We went through several revisions of home plans and builder interviews before moving forward with Vanderbilt. So it is with confidence and experience that I can say that Scott and Jerry work to accommodate the needs of their customers. Early in the process Vanderbilt recognized the level of commitment and emotion that we as homeowner/homebuilders had invested in the process. They worked diligently to accommodate our needs and revisions with a high level of support and ease. We strived for maximizing Elegance while maintaining Affordability. As a comparative shopper, I can state that Vanderbilt hit the mark!

From an affordability perspective, we were guided towards high the efficiency HVAC system and upgraded windows. This combined with Vanderbilt’s standard EnviroDry external house wrap/sealer; I am blown away with how low our monthly utility bills come in month over month. We have ~2600 square feet on the main floor with ceilings that range from 9 feet to 17 feet tall. We also heat/cool an additional ~2000 square feet of finished basement. Our utility bills are less than our previous new construction home where we only heated/cooled ~2200 square feet. Go for the upgrades! They will pay for themselves!

From and elegance perspective, Vanderbilt was highly accommodating in combining their selections with our upgrades to create the look and feel we were trying to establish. We felt as though we had a direct hand in designing and building out our home! This included flexibility in bricks and mortar colors, to flooring and cabinets, to fixtures and lighting!

We are nearly two years into our home and as excited walking in the door today as we were the day we took full ownership! While we are not planning on moving from this home anytime soon, we would build with Vanderbilt again!

I am trying not to sound like an infomercial, but I wanted to express my thanks for all of your hard work. Being an IT person, I am naturally detail-oriented and technically inclined. I love learning new things and I attack topics with vigor. I would say that I have built up a base of knowledge about the inner workings of a house. Yet I would tell anyone looking to build - you need a trusted advisor. Not a home builder, a trusted advisor.

From the first meeting with Vanderbilt to the time my wife and I said "go" took almost two years. Vanderbilt could have been dismissive or disengaged, but instead the team was responsive, patient, and helpful. When we did say "go," the sheer number of decisions and small details over the six month build was overwhelming. There are so many places where one can easily be cheated, persuaded, or misled. Never once did I feel that with Vanderbilt. My gut reaction in the first meeting played out through the whole process - Vanderbilt cares about the customer and the quality of the work. That is reflected in the honest guidance and the final (excellent) product. Not

We always dreamed of building our own home. When an opportunity to buy a lot came up, we were just sitting down to our meeting with Vanderbilt. After meeting with Jerry we felt confident with chosing Vanderbilt building our forever home! As first time home builders we didn’t know what to expect, but he and Scott walked us through the entire building process. We enjoyed every part of the process, from designing the floor plan, to chosing our
fixtures/flooring, etc, to watching every day as the house went up. The contractors Vanderbilt partners with were all so helpful during our decision-making, and a pleasure to work with. We looked forward to all our meetings with Jerry and Scott, and really developed a great relationship with them. They were extremely helpful and patient and were always straight-forward when it came to our budget and cost, while still helping to make our design ideas come to life! During the building process, our project manager Chris kept us informed of what was happening, and involved us in decisions along the way. We were able to customize our home to what we wanted, and we couldn’t be happier with how beautiful everything turned out! Scott, Jerry and their entire team were wonderful to work with. From the very beginning they treated us like family. We lived in Chicago at the start and were only coming in every once in while to make decisions, but we were never concerned that progress wasn’t being made because we would get friendly calls on the regular with updates. They work with amazing vendors who made some of the tough decisions easy. And when we really couldn’t figure out what we wanted for a certain color or stain, they were there with recommendations and ideas for consideration. When I had a minor freak out that the flooring my husband and I picked wasn’t quite right, they let us have a few days to think it over and didn’t pressure us to hurry up and make a decision we might not be comfortable with. (We finally decided the flooring was great and I am so in love with it!) I know it’s what they do for a living, but they really made us feel like our house was the best house ever and were just as excited about it as we were. There are so many companies these days that build houses, but Vanderbilt went above and beyond to build us our forever home and we will be forever grateful.
